DESCRIPTION
The next installment of the series created in 1999 as the next part of the  African Wildlife collector's edition.
In the early 1970s it was estimated that more than 20,000 elephants lived along the Somalia-Kenya border, but due to poaching, civil war and political instability not a single pachyderm had been seen in Somalia since 1995.
Recently, however a bull elephant made his way across the border from Kenya sparking hopes that perhaps the world’s largest land animal would be making a comeback.
Today, the elephant is the largest living land animal.
In antiquity they were used as fighting animals, and now is a species under strict protection.
On the reverse of this beautiful coin there is an adult with his child against the backdrop of a savannah.
All coins feature the coat of arms of Somalli on the obverse. The coin has a face value of 100 Shillings.
